2.  You can come live, and if you can't make it live you're STILL getting the goods!  It is one of the best things about Zooming that even if you can't be there in person, you can still be there later on.

Why aren't we taught this stuff as teenagers?!

I don't know why not but I know I am ready to teach you now!

Why weren't we taught this stuff at school?.. 

Why am I doing this now?  My story (well, some of!). 

I was never really taught anything useful about my cycle.  All I knew was that I could expect to feel moody/tender/emotional the week before my bleed and that my options of sanitary products were pads or tampons.  Oh, and that I should be terrified of falling pregnant (this one stayed with me big time!!)

When I was a teenager I was absolutely petrified of getting pregnant, I genuinely thought I could get pregnant on any day of my cycle.  I knew nothing about tracking my cycle and generally no-one ever really talked about periods.

 

Saying that, my periods were pretty regular & ‘normal’  I averaged a 28 day cycle and my periods lasted around 4/5 days.  All good in the hood.

 

And then, when I was 31 I met a man and fell into what became a toxic & harmful relationship.  AND at the same time, it was wildly up & down and included A LOT  of sex.  I now know that what I had with him was a trauma bond (more on trauma bonds another day) and because it was such a harmful & abusive relationship, it massively affected my periods.  My cycle got really short (like 20/21 days) and my periods even shorter, like 2 days some months.  At the time, I was just thought ‘ohh it’s the universe every month reassuring me I'm not pregnant.’  I now know that on some (if not most) months, I wasn’t ovulating.  Because my body didn’t feel safe.  (when you are experiencing stress, a hormone called cortisol is released which puts you into a fight or flight state, your energy is all directed to brain & muscles and away from other bodily systems like digestion & reproduction) Consequently, because my body was constantly stressed and I wasn’t ovulating, my hormones were all over the place (ovulation is the most important phase of your cycle!)  I have a lot more to say about this – join the masterclass to hear it!

When I ended that relationship (after 5 years – imagine the damage to my body & hormones) I went on a mission to heal my cycle.  I have learned as much as I can about all of it and now I’m bringing it to you.

 

Today, my cycle is near on perfect.  Of course life happens but as soon as I notice something is off, I am on it and I know what to do.
